For Michael Billings, passion and purpose go hand in hand. Based in Ohio, he is a firearms instructor for Battle Line Tactical and Kris Tanto, and founder of Digital R.O.E.: a training and media company that blends skill and storytelling.
Michael’s journey started with service, first in armed security, then in the military. But he found a calling in instruction and content creation. “I’ve always had a passion for firearms, growing up hunting and shooting,” he says. “Over time, I found another interest in photography — capturing moments that tell a story beyond what the eye sees. I wanted to build something that combined those skills and interests, which led me to start Digital R.O.E.”

Building Skills That Matter
As an instructor, Michael sees his work as a way to make a real difference in people’s lives. “I can’t take my skills with me when I’m gone, so I want to use them to educate others — helping them become safer, more confident, and capable with firearms,” he explains. “Knowing that something I’ve taught might help someone one day means more to me than recognition or fame.”
His motivation is simple: never settle. “I’ve never been someone who can sit still,” Michael says. “There’s still so much I want to accomplish, and I see every day as a chance to move closer to those goals. My motivation isn’t about success or recognition — it’s about becoming the best version of myself and setting an example for others to do the same.”
Training with Purpose
When everything clicks — when the training, teamwork, and preparation all come together — that’s when Michael is reminded why he does what he does. “Seeing a team handle a tough situation calmly and effectively reminds me why the work and the training matter. The effort we put in every day can truly make a difference.”
It’s that mindset that defines his one-word summary of his work: DRIVEN.
A Dual Perspective
Michael’s career straddles two demanding fields — firearms training and digital storytelling — and he’s proud to represent both with integrity. “Firearms instruction isn’t about politics or ego — it’s about safety, education, and helping people build confidence through proper training,” he says. “The digital media side is just as important; it’s about telling real stories and showing the professionalism behind this industry.”
In both arenas, he leads with a focus on responsibility and respect. “Skill means nothing without integrity and humility,” he adds. “I hope the next generation understands that success isn’t just about what you achieve, but how you help others grow and stay safe along the way.”
Adventure Beyond the Range
When he’s not working, Michael’s spending his free time outside, flying planes, skydiving, hunting, fishing, or off-roading. “Whether it’s on the water, in the air, or out in the woods, I like staying active and doing things that push me to grow.”
Gear That Goes the Distance
For Michael, safety gear isn’t just equipment, it’s essential. “Whether it’s firearms training, competition, or real-world application, your gear protects you and keeps you in the fight. If your safety fails, your mission fails.”
That’s why he trusts his HHV GEN2 and GEN3 ATE ballistic helmets. “They’ve always held up to real-world use. The right gear doesn’t just protect you physically — it gives you confidence to perform at your best.”
Being part of the HHV community, Michael says, is about representing professionalism and purpose: “I’ve used HHV helmets for years in training, night vision work, and media projects. It’s great to be part of a community that values safety and excellence in this industry.”
At Hard Head Veterans, we’re proud to highlight professionals like Michael — people who build, train, and inspire with dedication and purpose, both on and off the range. #HHVFieldTeam
