Ballistic Helmet Questions

What level of protection do HHV helmets provide?

All HHV ballistic helmets exceed NIJ Level IIIA standards, stopping handgun rounds up to .44 Magnum.

Will HHV helmets stop rifle rounds?

Our ATE Rifle will stop 5.56 (M855) and 7.62x39 MSC while also keeping backface deformation low.

What are HHV helmets made from?

Our shells are made from advanced aramid fibers (Kevlar® and similar) and UHMWPE using compression-molded technology for strength and weight balance.

Do HHV helmets meet NIJ standards?

Yes. Each model is tested at an independent NIJ-accredited lab. Results are available under the “NIJ Testing” tab on each product page.

How long does a ballistic helmet last?

Our ballistic shells carry a 10-year performance warranty. We recommend replacement after that period due to material aging.

Do you batch test your helmets?

Yes. Random production testing is part of our ongoing quality control program.

How do I size my helmet?

Measure the circumference of your head above your eyebrows and compare to our sizing chart on the product page.
If you’re between sizes, go one size up for more padding options.

ACCESSORIES & COMPATIBILITY

Will HHV Micro Lattice Pads fit other helmets?

Yes. They’re compatible with ACH, MICH, LWH, Ops-Core, MTEK, Revision, Gentex, and most Velcro®-based pad systems.

Why are my Comfort Plus pads firm at first?

They’re made from temperature-sensitive memory foam. They’ll soften after 2–3 minutes of wear or body heat.

Do your rails fit third-party headsets?

Yes. Our M-LOK rails are compatible with most major headsets (Peltor, Walker, Ops-Core, etc.). Some models may require adapters.

Do your helmet covers fit other helmets?

Yes. HHV mesh and solid covers fit most high-cut or FAST-style helmets.

Do you sell longer screws or replacement hardware?

Yes. Please email us! info@hardheadveterans.com

What hearing protection do you recommend?

We recommend electronic models from Peltor, Ops-Core, or Walker for the best compatibility and comfort.

Will Micro Lattice Pads fit Kevy hard hats?

No. Kevy hard hats use a different interior suspension system optimized for industrial environments.

What are Kevy hard hats made from?

Kevy hard hats are molded from Kevlar, Carbon Fiber (Kevy & Kevy Slick), and Polycorbante (Kevy E) for durability, comfort, and superior impact absorption, all made in Sweetwater, Texas.

Is the Kevy chinstrap removable or replaceable?

Yes. The Kevy uses a modular retention system, so chinstraps can be removed, swapped, or replaced.

Are Kevy hard hats heat resistant?

Yes. They’re designed for high-heat job sites and resist deformation at elevated temperatures.

Do you plan to offer more colors or a vented model?
