Marine EOD ATE helmet

What's your name and job?

SSgt Anthony and I am a US Marine Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician currently attached to the Marine Raid Force in the Pacific AOR

What does a day in your life look like? (Walk us through your normal day)

Well I wake up missing good Ole US of A since I am stationed over in Okinawa, Japan. I have a teammate that I am in charge of, and we provide the whole Marine Raid Force, to include the Force and Amphibious Raid force, protection from all explosive hazards- and at the same time I am a shooter and breacher for the teams. Some days we hit random raids from Guam all the way to Philippines getting ready to bring the fight... The USMC Recon Force are the only entity in this AOR that can take down a vessel in the ocean opposed, and that is what we do.

What makes you get up in the morning?

What gets me up in the morning is providing for my Wife and two young daughters the safety and an income to live on, I love my profession because not only can I take away lives, but EOD techs save lore lives on the battlefield, protecting troops from I.E.D.s and booby-traps.

What lead you to become a soldier, officer, etc?

I wanted to originally be a beat cop like my father but I always wanted to serve my nation as well, so I joined the Marine Corps back in '07 and have been enlisted and active duty since then.

What are the most challenging aspects of your profession?

My field is always changing, there is always some new home made explosive being made, or homemade ordnance and now a lot of homemade chemical ordnance is being found in the middle east. TTPs from the battlefield are always changing. First responders are always the targeted ones.

What do you love to do in your free time?

I spend a lot of time with my family, scuba diving, hiking, camping, and just getting back the time lost from prior deployments. When I am stateside I do a lot of hunting/fishing, plinking, reloading, and I build AR & 1911 80% lowers.

What are your thoughts on the HHV ATE Helmet?

Love the helmet, there are a couple of us on the team that have HHV helmets, and we all love your products!
